Saving Indiana's wetlands: Sue Errington and John Craddock discuss preservation efforts at the John M. Craddock Wetlands Preserve
Watch a short video by Sue Errington and John Craddock about the importance of saving Indiana's wetlands
Dear Neighbor,
This summer, I visited the John M. Craddock Wetlands Preserve in Muncie, named in honor of John Craddock. John is largely recognized as having cleaned up Muncie's section of the White River.
John and I filmed a short video at the preserve, discussing the wetlands and solutions to preserve this vital ecosystem.
Indiana has lost about 90% of its wetlands, and the number only continues to rise. Since 2021, Indiana has lost 260 acres of wetlands.
Wetlands improve our water quality and are home to many unique species of plants and animals. They naturally absorb rainwater, reducing flooding. According to the Indiana Department of Environmental Management, 70% of Indiana residents rely on groundwater for at least part of their drinking water supply.
I want to thank my friend John for helping me spread the word about this critical issue. I encourage you all to visit the John M. Craddock Wetlands Preserve and advocate for legislation to protect Indiana's remaining wetlands. I want to thank John for taking the time to help me bring attention to this issue.
Now more than ever, we must commit to preserving Indiana's wetlands. This upcoming session, I will continue to fight back against the continued destruction of Indiana's wetlands and promote policies to protect this vital ecosystem from further depletion.
In service,
Rep. Sue Errington, District 34 State Representative
